Medical team

The medical team of the Assisted Reproduction Unit is composed of Dr. Castillo and Dr. Aragon, gynecologists of this clinic, and the staff of Almeria FIV.

Our unit, attached to the Hospital Virgen del Mar offers highly qualified personnel in specific laboratory techniques of Human Reproduction and by another group of medical and nursing of the hospital staff.

 

The technical area of Almeria FIV is headed by Dr. Durán, Senior Clinical embryologist, accredited by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

Ginecology

José Luís Castillo López, MD

  1. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery by the University of Granada rating outstanding in 1982.
  2. Completing the training period as resident in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Hospital La Paz in Madrid, during the years 1983 to 1987.
  3. Obtaining plaza by opposition as Medical Area Specialist, at the University Hospital of Alcala de Henares in Madrid in 1989.
  4. From 1988 to 1994 collaborator of Sixto Perera, MD, a pioneer of in vitro fertilization in Madrid after having worked with Howard Jones, MD, – who had the first newborn through IVF in the United States – in Norfolk, Virginia.
  5. Associate professor in health sciences at the University of Alcala de Henares in Madrid from 1989 to 1994.
  6. Since 1994 practice at the Hospital Virgen del Mar in Almeria, being founder of the unit Reproduction.
  7. Getting the first pregnancy in Almeria using sperm microinjection, in our unit Reproduction.
  8. Member of SEGO, SEF and ASRM.

Ginecology

Miguel Aragón Albillos, MD

  1. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the School of Medicine of Valladolid in 1988, getting that degree with a rating of outstanding.
  2. Internal Interim Student in the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine at Valladolid in 1987.
  3. Assistant at the Internal Medicine unit of the Instituto di Clinica Médica y dell´Universitá de Bari (Italia) in July 1987.
  4. MIR Resident in the Service of the Hospital Central de Asturias in 1989.
  5. He works as a gynecologist specialist in Assisted Human Reproduction Unit in Reproduction Hospital Virgen del Mar since 2000.
  6. Speaker at Congress of Pathology Pelvic Floor and assisted reproduction.
  7. There are many communications Congresses regional, national and international publications in national specialty magazines and a chapter of a book.
  8. Member of SEGO, SAGO, SEF, ESHRE, Sección nacional y autonómica de Suelo Pélvico, Sección Nacional de Ecografía and SEC.

Biology

Ignacio Durán Salas, MD

  1. Senior clinical Embryologist, accredited by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Ebryology (ESHRE).
  2. Biology Doctor at the University of Granada in 2007 with a rating of outstanding cum laudem.
  3. Graduated in Biological Science by the University of Granada in 1994 and collegiate at the Official College of Andalusia Biologists (COBA 00823) since that date.
  4. Accomplished his training as Clinical Embryologist at the Reproduction Unit of the Hospital Universitario Virgen de las Nieves in Granada (1998-2000).
  5. Head of In Vitro Fertilization Laboratory of Reproduction Unit of the Hospital Virgen del Mar de Almería since 2000 to the present.
  6. Conducts research in the field of reproductive health since 1998 and has participated in international research projects.
  7. There are numerous publications on Reproductive Health, including book chapters, national and international magazines, CD-ROM and DVD training in Clinical Embryology, and a large number of communications on national and international congresses.
  8. Trainer of new embryologists since 1999.
  9. Member of SEF, ASEBIR, ASESA and ESHRE.

Centers Associates

Our center works in close collaboration with other especialized centers in the area of reproduction and clinical analysis. These centers are CEIFER S.L. and AVIVAR ANALISTAS ASOCIADOS S.L. These centers have ISO 9001 AENOR certification of its system quality management like us. This certification in Spain is accredited by the National Accreditation body (ENAC) and international projection through IQNET.
